One Last Evening in Rio

Before heading to the airport, we went back to Ipanema Beach to watch one last sunset.

The beach buzzed with conversation. People gathered in small groups, sharing drinks and snacks while waiting for the sky to put on its evening show. It felt less like a quiet beach and more like an enormous open-air café, where everyone happened to have the same reservation—the sunset.

We took selfies in every direction, laughing as we tried to squeeze just one more photo into our collection before heading home. They were far from perfect, but that wasn’t the point. We weren’t trying to take the perfect picture. We simply wanted to remember this moment—the two of us together one last time on Ipanema Beach.

Eventually, we put our phones away and sat quietly for a while, watching the sun slowly disappear behind the mountains. Around us, conversations continued, but for those few minutes, we were simply happy to be there.

As we watched the last rays of sunlight fade from the sky, we realized something. This had been an incredible week. We had seen some truly beautiful places, met wonderful people, and collected memories we’ll carry with us for years to come. But sitting there in the warm sand, we also agreed that we were ready to go home. Somehow, that made the ending feel just right.
